I keep getting emails from University of La Verne and a variety of other colleges saying that I am receiving a premium application. From looking, I can see that my info is partially filled out and I could potentially qualify for scholarships but is there anything else that a premium application entails like a fee waiver or early decision?
Does it make you feel special?
That would be premium.
Not a huge fan of the sarcasm but thank you for the explanation
We have gotten a bunch of them and a few did say they would waive the app fee. Some promised a quicker decision and other things. We only took advantage of one. It happened to be a similar type of school to the ones he’s interested in (Jesuit, big city), but in a city we hadn’t previously considered. I looked into this early on and there is definitely the feeling that many of these colleges are trying to drive up their applications to improve their own stats and that is why they send these out and that’s probably true. Personally, I wouldn’t spend too much time on those unless it actually happens to be a school that you hadn’t heard of that sounds like a good fit. Good luck!!
Some schools do that. U La Verne probably isn’t going to give a lot of money to you. I do know someone who got much better from U Redlands last year.
Did they send you a letter asking you to apply? Like an invitation? It’s mostly a marketing tool to get people to check out their school by trying to make the person feel special.
