What is a selective college?

Well I’m a senior now and it’s time to start worrying about colleges… GPA of 3.9469 :frowning: weighted I think 3.6 or 7 unweighted (Not sure) :frowning: . I rank 67 out of 285. 4 AP classes. 3 advanced. I have volunteered for about 80 hours at a hospital, library, and carnival combined. 4 honor societies Latin honor society, National, Mu alpha theta, and French honor society… I’m president of international club. Treasurer of Psychology club. and member of anime club. I play no sports whatsoever. Current highest SAT score of 1690. 1720 superscored :frowning: . I live in VA. Scores are not that great, but too late to fix. What exactly are selective, safety, and reach schools for me? Or just give ranges for selective, safety and reach?
I want to get into these colleges…
VCU
JMU
UVA
GMU
CNU

Any help at all is great… i’m a very lost person right now.

bump…

No need for all the sad faces – your stats will be good enough for plenty of schools. A few suggestions:

-to determine the likelihood of getting into your schools, look up the Common Data Set for each (should be accessible with a Google search). That will give you info on average GPAs and SAT scores of accepted students. In general, if your scores are below the averages, the school is a reach; if they’re around the average, it’s a match; and if they’re above and affordable, it’s a safety

-if you’re looking for more schools, try the SuperMatch tool on this website.

-if you want suggestions of more schools, provide info on what you want to major in, your financial needs, and any preferences for location, size, Greek life, etc. That way people will have a better idea of what you’re looking for.

UVA I think is a big reach with your stats. Even instate you probably want a 3.7 AND at least a 1900. The others on your list are all matches or safeties.
