What is a superscore?

Sorry I am new to this site and I was just wondering what a superscore is.

If you take two or more SAT tests, many colleges will use the highest section scores from the combined tests to determine your gross SAT score and decision to admit. In other words, score 600 in math and 700 in reading in one test and then score 700 math and 600 reading in another, the math and reading scores they consider for admission are those two 700s. Thus, "superscore."

If one has taken the SAT multiple times, some colleges add the highest scores from each section.

eg:
first time taken SATS
M- 600
W-500
R-700

second time
M-700
W-450
R-750

700 + 500 + 750 = superscore

Okay does that work for the ACT as well?

very few colleges superscore the ACT. Check out that thread on the ACT sub-forum.
