We want to defend our school. I am torn three ways!

no I’m just watching Mission Impossible which has inspired my to have ninja fighting skillz

Come on, PPV, Andover! Go flip through your Andover viewbook =D

take it from someone who got into BOTH… EXETER is waaaaay better

I did… It is a lot better than Exeter’s, I agree. I kind of like Exeter’s courses, though… I am so torn.

istoleyournose, you also got into Andover? Cool, I did not know that… Was Exeter a clear choice for you?

Doesn’t the casual dress code tell you something, it means they don’t have to mask them selves to be good. Then again, Exeter’s courses are pretty amazing… Idk, choosing before tomorrow is on my to do…

It’s impossible to fault either school’s academics because at both it’s possible to take courses that are on par with ones you’d take at MIT in junior year. But yeah, Exeter’s viewbook was an epic fail… slim, poorly put together, cheap-feeling, and generally uninformative. Andover’s was basically awesome

Exeter’s dress code is so far from strict (ppls had pink hair and one guy had nose rings) and yes Exeter was a clear choice for me.

Mmm… Exeter even fails at maintaining its dress code

okay 10chars

But it is not fully casual either. I don’t care about nominal things such as that…

god damn this 60second rule…

I know! It’s killing me.

Oh, look what just happened.

“This forum requires that you wait 60 seconds between posts. Please try again in 10 seconds.”

Yup this thread and that other thread… Fighting the Exover war…

I can’t believe I’m already this passionate about Andover before I’ve even arrived. It bodes well for my A/E competitions!

Going back to Preppy-Chick’s first post…
I think that people are too concerned with fitting a specific mold to get into boarding school. Yes, you have to be smart and make good grades. Yes, you have to have an extracurricular activity. But don’t go signing up for seven different kinds of taxidermy lessons just to look unique. What do you like to do? Pick something that interests you and get involved. Even something as simple as soccer will look great if you play at a high level. Do something good for YOU, and the schools will respect that.

I live for racing motorcycles in the summer. I think that is a “unique talent;” however, I wasn’t really sure if this talent was viewed as a +/- during the application process. It’s a huge part of who I am so I tried to show it in a positive light, but wasn’t sure if it came accross that way or not in all of my interviews. And especially since it in no way brings anything more to campus, (unless you want to make the stretch to call it diversity,) I didn’t anticipate it as being helpful. Thankfully, it didn’t hurt with my applications all that much, since I was accepted to 6/8 schools where I applied.

candlemaking? or maybe glassblowing or woodworking! or skydiving! yeah!
i considered putting down brewing (beer), but as I just help my dad sometimes and it wouldn’t contribute anything to the school, i dodn’t.

i think the admissions officer would have some strange thoughts about brewing if you didn’t tell them it was helping your dad.

yeah exactly.
and i hate this stupid 60 seconds rule why doesn’t it just diiiiiiieeeee
