I'm just wondering what schools would consider a low EFC, because I still haven't recieved a financial aid packet from my school (University of Washington) and from what I've heard they only give out grants and any aid other than loans if it is really needed. What would you guys consider as a low EFC, one that will receive aid other than loans at a school facing major budget problems

thanks

No real answer to this—

Cost of Attendance for UoW is on their website. You should know your EFC from having completed your FAFSA. Subtract the EFC from the COA; that’s your “need.”

Go to College Board, and see what % of need U of W typically meets, that will give you some idea. If your EFC is close to the COA, you’ll likely be eligible for loans, at best. And if you’re out of state, don’t expect much in the way of aid from the university itself, which is usually reserved for in-state students. If you have a very low EFC (under around 4K as I recall), you’d be eligible for a federal pell grant, regardless of your school.
