CSS is a financial profile that is available from the College Board which some colleges require for financial aid in addition to FAFSA; go here for info on CSS: https://profileonline.collegeboard.com/index.jsp

FAFSA is a US government form that must be submitted by any US resident to any US college to qualify for need-based financial aid and the form is found here: FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid

Both require finanicial information mainly about your parents.

As to international students, FAFSA usually does not apply and mainly because majority of US colleges do not provide any need-based financial aid to internationals. Some colleges that do provide such aid might require a FAFSA but may only require a CSS for that purpose.

International students do not file a FAFSA. They do not have social security numbers, U.S. income tax returns etc. There is an international student aid form that is used instead for schools that do give aid to international students. I'm not at all familiar with the application process for international students...but others here are.

To be honest, I'm not sure the Profile can be done either...

The FAFSA and the Profile REQUIRE financial information (income and assets) from both the parents and the student.
