What is exact SAT retaking policy?

Hello all,

I took the Jan 2008 SAT and I guess I didn't do as well as I thought (8 no errors on 1 writing section???? you ll understand if you took it)...

anyway - i think i can hopefully improve for March, but i just wanted to know if anyone knew how colleges look at multiple tests

i always thought that for the first two they take the best, but after that they start averaging

other people have told me colleges always take the best score (but if you think about it that doesnt really make sense)

anybody have a concrete answer or advice?

thanks

They usually take the highest score total whenever (they rarely if ever superscore and take the highest from each section, though some do). From my impression, although it doesn't really hurt you score-wise to take the SAT 10 times, colleges will be kind of suspicious if you take it more than 3 or 4 times (2 or 3 times is usually average.) They make think that you're an uber perfectionist = bad.
