Well, yeah – generally speaking, I’d throw all of those schools in one big pile and make decisions based on personal fit and preference, not out of a belief that any of them are markedly superior to the others. Seriously. These are the Olympic team of schools; it’s pretentious to pretend that there are major differences in school quality between any of those you’ve listed above.

^Not sure WUSTL belongs, but to each his own.

I agree Pizzagirl. Once you are looking at the top 40 colleges and universities, the difference in quality varries very little. But there are nevertheless small differences. I do not think WUSTL is quite on par with Stanford for example.

Though similar in selectivity, I dont think many would claim they are on the same level overall. Thats an argument for the Duke partisans☺

sentimentGX4, as Alexandre points out, GWU is roughly as selective as BU. GWU is a great school, but I wouldnt say its admissions standards are insane.

WUSTL belongs fully in that list; this is informative’s typical never-been-out-of-Boston response to anything that isn’t in New England. Anyway, I stand by what I say. They are all similar enough and provide so many opportunities that (barring a major financial difference, or barring a specific program available at only one of them) they all fall under the category of “great schools, choose the one that appeals to you for personal, non-academic reasons.” At this level, the person makes the difference, not the school.

^ Ah, the never-been-out-of-Boston syndrome☺

^ it’s a terrible disease

^ LOL. Agreed.

^ The only known cure is Love’s First Kiss from someone with never-been-to-Boston syndrome.
