What is Human Ecology like

what is the human ecology school like

what makes it different

what type of educational set up is it

i picked HBHS because i'm interested in medicine

You already picked the school and you don’t know anything about it? You better hope no one there is able to figure that out from your essays/interview/etc.

[The College of Human Ecology, Cornell University-Home](http://www.human.cornell.edu/)

If you want to learn about the school, start here.

i’ve read that long ago

i just want some personal accounts about it

As a senior in Human Ecology, i can personally say I love it. I’ll just bullet a few things about the college that should give you a pretty good idea of what its like

Its a small school. Most of the majors are 20~ people per class so you’ll definitely know at least everyone’s face by the time you graduate. Frankly I think this is a nice change from Cornell large size because you become pretty tight with people you take all your in-major classes with. Also, because of this, the whole college is in one building so no venturing out into freezing temps between classes.

Its mostly female. I’m a guy and up until last semester was one of ~5 guys in my major of about 50. HumEc after all used to be “Home Economics”. This is one of the ways the university balances out the engineering school being mostly male.

Its not known for being very hard. Most of the classes have a median grade of a B or higher so getting out the school with a high GPA isn’t difficult (especially if you’re looking to med school). Also, for better or worse it has the reputation of having a lot of “dumb sorority girls”. This isn’t really justified because no one’s “dumb” at Cornell but you definitely notice a greek presence in the classes.

Reputations aside, its a great school. Hope this helped!

Mye2010 I would like to hear what your experiences are with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, as I am applying to that school.

@h00cr1chh: why would you ask someone in HumEc for his experiences with CALS?

mye2010 what major r u in at HumEc.?
