What is most important for YOUR top school?

areas of study aside (majors), what are some most important factors in deciding what is the best school for you?

prestige?
rankings?
avg. salary?
price?
location?
wheather?

something else?

fit=price
location=weather
prestige=rankings

avg salary

for me.

I have a lot of important things for ones to be my top school which really ranges from academic reasons ( like listed above), overall benefits ( like listed above such as location, price etc…) and more importantly to make it my top ( or anyones really) is personal reasons/ standards.

1 for obvious reasons, academics.

Then location and campus and atmosphere. If I’m staying and paying for 4+ years, I should like and want to be there!

Cool idea for a thread.

Anyways, for me right now, it’s all about prestige and money. The best combo of the two will win!!!

(yes, I am a greedy jerk)

for me it’s how well i will fit into the college

A combination of academic strength and right fit.

My criteria were financial aid, prestige, and location.

Thanks for the input guys… explanations would be helpful too, though.

and everyone says “fit”. what exactly is fit?

“Fit” is hard to describe but easy to feel. When I walked on campus at the college I’ll be attending, I felt at home. I could see myself sitting under the trees studying, I could see myself and my friends going to the football and basketball games, and it just felt right.

Another college I strongly considered, I just didn’t feel like I fit in there. It had great programs, I was in the honors college, it was basically free… but I just would’ve been miserable for 4 years, trying to force myself to enjoy a place I didn’t take to naturally.

Of course, you can always learn to like a place, but given two choices where you feel more comfortable at one than the other, most would tend to choose the former.

^ perfectly put

Culture and Difficulty (the harder the better)
