What is my chance to get accepted

I'm a college student now in coastal carolina university. However, I want to transfer to Dartmouth(I'm a nc state resident). I did not do too well on my act test (only 24), but my gpa in high school was 4.23. I was not in top 10% of my class but my percentile was 12%. I currently have 4.0 gpa in ccu and I'm in the president list also. About xtracurriculum, I'm the president of German club and member of different club also. One last thing about me is that I'm an immigrant(not German) and I came to the USA in November 2006 and started my freshman year in HS later than my friends 2 months (November instead of august of 2006). So, with that being said, can I get in a good school like Dartmouth?

It’s great that you have a 4.0 GPA at CCU – that will certainly boost your application. However, based on your post here, you don’t seem to have reached the level of English proficiency necessary to succeed at a school like Dartmouth. I’d suggest working intensively on your English before applying to transfer. Not only will your application essays (and thus your chances) be better as a result, but also you will have a better chance of succeeding once you do transfer. I wish you the best of luck.

Dartmouth is incredibly difficult to transfer into. Not only do they expect a strong high school record, they also want a high GPA and very strong test scores. Given you are a NC resident, I think UNC-Chapel Hill could be a much better (and more within reach) option for you. They are much more likely to get past your ACT score and let you in, and its a fantastic school.

If you are looking to try to transfer as a freshman for admissions as a sophomore, I would advise you to wait regardless of the school that you are considering. If you are a freshman, right now you have one semester of college grades where you have a 4.0 gpa. The majority of the weight will still be on your high school gpa and scores. Is your GPA weighted or unweighted (use the unweighted because there is already an expectation that you are taking the most rigorous courses that your school offered?

If you try to transfer someplace as a junior, you will have 3 terms of grades putting some distance between you and high school. Definitely take the opportunity to retake the ACT?SAT and the required SAT subject test.

I agree 100% with slipper about giving strong consideration to UNC- Chapel Hill especially since you are a NC resident.
