What is my likelihood of being admitted in a good college?

I am an international applicant(India)(undergraduate). Planning to go to med school. Currently in my senior year in High School. I’m admitted in an English medium school(So will I be exempt from taking the TOEFL?). I would also like to point out that I don’t have Mathematics as a subject currently(I had maths till 10th grade). My subjects in school are Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Information Technology, English, Psychology, Environmental Studies & Physical Education(we have a written test for that!). Have a few B’s and rest A’s on my report card(I know. Not good enough.)

I have studied Hindi as a second language for 10 years(till 10th grade), and I also took up a third language, Marathi for 3 years(6,7,8th grade). I don’t know if this counts but just wanted to put this forward.

My extracurriculars in school are lacking. Though I have a undertaken quiet a few activities outside of school. These included, Kick Boxing(4 years), Boxing(4 years), Some wrestling(4 years), Judo(2 years), Karate(3 years). I also am fairly capable in terms of sketching, but that is just as a hobby. I’m planning to gain some experience in Event management this summer, if that counts.

I’m to give my SAT and SAT Subject Tests this May and June. I would’ve earlier, but I had no idea of its existence. Indian schools rarely provide us with such information.

And I also have a comic that is under review by a publisher and if selected will undergo publication.
I also have conducted research on Seismology(seismic cloaks and all) and also on Clean energy(Me and my friends proposed a new model for electricity generation. All our school teacher encouraged us to push on with it further and to try and get it out there into the world. But however that died down after all of us split up during junior year. Its still possible for us to pursue it further.
And I currently also have a research on Cancer in progress(I’ve gained access to a cancer research facility from a friend).

I am of course going to apply to Ivy Leagues(which ones should I apply for?). Do recommend any other universities that I may have a shot at(financial aid is appreciated as my family isn’t very rich). Should I apply this year or wait and apply next year?
Do be frank with me. I would truly like to know what are my chances.
And thanks in advance!

You shouldn’t apply to any Ivy League university. A candidate from India needs to have national-level awards, high scores, and straight A’s to have a shot.
However you won’t be penalized if you’re enrolled in an academic track that doesn’t include math. Take national exams and present your percentile (ie., top 10% in province, top 20% in nation…) for HIndi and Marathi.
Look at LACs ranked 40 to 85. Honors Colleges at national universities will depend on your SAT/ACT score.
Since you’re interested in research, a college that’s famous for requiring original research from all its graduating seniors is College of Wooster. (On this forum, look at Minohi’s threads.)
You can apply this summer and Fall for Fall 2016.

Oops, I forgot to mention this. I’ve participated in 2 national level examinations(biology & IT) in my Junior year, with state ranks of 30 &17, and country ranks of 786 & 763* respectively. About 9 lakh (900,000) students appeared for the tests.
Is that all right?

I would seriously assess the “of course” assumption that you will apply to some ivies. Do not underestimate how insanely competitive they are for even domestic applicants to be admitted. It will be even more difficult for an int’l applicant from India, simply because there are so very many applicants from your country chasing a limited number of slots.

Because u have no SAT/ACT scores to report yet, no one here can assess your overall competitiveness as an applicant.

Take the SAT or ACT. Then to maximize your chance of success, target schools where your test scores will be in the top 25% of the range of admitted students for that school (even better to be in the top 10%).

Also, if your med school aspirations involve med school in the US, it’s totally unrealistic unless u can demonstrate the financial ability to pay the full cost of med school.

If you want to study medicine I seriously suggest not applying anywhere other than your own country. In my country, nobody ever goes to the US if they want to study medicine. The medical track there is just too expensive and lengthy.
