What is my likeliness of getting into these universities? CSUF, CSULB, SJSU, CSUN

So I want to be real with myself and have an idea of my likelihood of getting into these universities. I had a rough start in college so I’m playing catch up with my GPA. I applied to 10 schools in total and I’m really curious about what to expect for CSU Fullerton, Long Beach, San Jose State, and Northridge. Do demographics somehow come into play???I’m also a first generation college student, & native Pacific Islander

Major: Business Marketing
GPA: 2.9 (highest possible transfer GPA I can get by the end of fall 2018) current transfer GPA: 2.6 ):
AAT: yes (will finish in spring 2018)
Golden 4: yes
Area: East Bay Area California

Also applying to:
San Diego State
San Francisco state
Cal Poly Obispo
Cal State East Bay
UC Riverside
UC Santa Cruz

I don’t know if this information helps either…
Native Pacific Islander: Guamanian
Low Household Income: 12,000
Parents: high school graduates (I’m a first generation college student)
1 internship: marketing intern for start up company
All other professional experience: retail jobs/ receptionist
Not much community service I never had time because I’ve had to work ( mostly did community service in hs)

Please chance me I just want a real expectation of what schools I can possible get into when spring comes… I just know I have to make the best experience I can out of what I get.

Congratulations on your hard work but a GPA of under 3.0 is going to be tough for the impacted CSU’s and both UC’s. Since your GPA makes you in eligible for TAG, the UC’s will be a Reach.

UC Transfer by Major and campus should help you gauge your chances: https://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/infocenter/transfers-major

For the Cal States, being non-local the GPA is bar is set higher so CSUF required a 3.4+ for an acceptance. SDSU, CSULB and SLO will be similar.

Although this is 2017 information, this will give you the average transfer GPA and impaction requirements for the CSU’s: https://www2.calstate.edu/attend/counselor-resources/Documents/transfer-2017-admission-impaction-chart.pdf

SJSU, SFSU and CSUEB will be your best bets in getting an acceptance.
http://www.sjsu.edu/admissions/impaction/impactionresultstransfer/index.html

Last year for CSUN, if you are a non-local transfer applicant, then you needed a 3.7 GPA.

https://www.csun.edu/admissions-records/transfer-impaction#criteria

Race/ethnicity will not be considered for any California public universities. 1st Generation/Low Income will be a consideration.

Gumbymom: Thank you so much for your help!

SFSU is not impacted at the campus level, and business is not impacted (except for accounting, which is impacted). So it should admit on baseline CSU eligibility if you apply for a non-impacted major. See http://www.sfsu.edu/~prospect/apply/impacted.html

CSUEB information is at https://www.csueastbay.edu/admissions/transfer-admission-reqs/index.html . It looks like if you are in the local area, you need a 2.0 college GPA, in addition to meeting the various course requirements. If you are not local, you may have to meet a higher college GPA threshold. Nursing is the only impacted major at CSUEB, and music requires an audition, according to https://www.csueastbay.edu/admissions/transfer-admission-reqs/major-and-audition.html .

SDSU has a table of transfer admission GPA requirements by major:
https://admissions.sdsu.edu/transfers/apply/gpa_requirements

ucbalumnus: Thank you! I was trying to find the GPA’s for these schools for business majors.
Does anyone know if being accepted for EOP will help my consideration? and the way I answer the EOP questions help my chances of getting into that program???
