what is Salsbury really like academically and socially

Thanks for your thougts, but I assure you that I have a much greater ability to assess Salisbury than you do...

lol, i live 5 minutes from salisbury throughout the school year, and my cousin graduated from salisbury a couple years ago

Good for you -- I'm an alum, a (recent) past parent and I'm married to a former trustee. Thanks for playing though.

nice...lol...didnt know that..
my cousin graduated around 50th percentile of his class, ended up at bryant university, and he's now at community college finishing his associate degree, he had a bad SATs score tho, 1210 old scale

Thanks for sharing.

I heard that two Hotchkiss lacrosse players were headed to...The University of Denver next year.

"I heard that two Hotchkiss lacrosse players were headed to...The University of Denver next year."

huh? I dont know where you heard the news from
but no matter what, Regular decisions arent out until april..... University of Denver does not have a binding early decision program, it's early action.. So if they got in, it will simply be one of their options in april... just like how I applied to Northeastern early action as my safety so now at least I know I will be at college (full scholarship too) (assuming that i hvnt heard back from michigan rolling"....
so you cant say "they were headed to the university of denver"

Fun is fun, you dominated bearcats. Good job.

If anything, that speaks well for Salisbury. =D

LOL I was laughing the whole time I was reading.
Irseyes, "Fun is fun, you dominated bearcats. Good job"
I didn't have that feeling. I thought fun is fun knows nothing about admissions at top schools. Bearcat's point is, U of Denver is an early action schools, which is true. College counsellors often advice their students to apply to early actions as safeties so they would end up being in college and preserve the school's 100% college matriculation rate. So those lax players getting in means nothing. Also, not anyone from a top BS gets into top colleges, so I dont see his point mentioning it at all. While bearcats mentioned his cousin WHO WENT TO SALISBURY, which is relevant.

Ever hear of a National Letter of Intent?

Didn't think so.

What if the lacrosse players cant afford college without athletic scholarship and simply have to resort to lower tier colleges for full rides?

Bare in mind that Ivies dont offer athletic scholarships and so do many top schools

I go to Salisbury, am a current senior, and got into Wesleyan ED without the help of sports or anything that you Hotchkiss people usually associate with us Salisbury boys. Also, I think it is funny, THEBIGGREENS, how you cannot even spell (bare in mind)? What, is the mind naked or something?

Also, most of the PG's who come are already committed to the Navy. They are sent here by the Navy because apparently our chemistry program is extremely strong. I can account for that (I have taken regular and am currently in AP Chem); Kenneth Stone is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Also, the only reason Hotchkiss is a "better" school is that the girls there bring up the SAT averages and grades. The boys are just as "dumb" as we supposedly are.

Right on ZenKarma3 (roommate)!! Salisbury is a great school. I have been at Salisbury since freshmen year. Since my first day it has been awesome. I came in there not knowing where I was going to go with my life. And by sophomore year I was taking honors courses. So basically if you push yourself and work hard you will get a lot out of your time there. Adding to the Hotchkiss topic, the guys who go there are complete idiots. You take the girls away and you will get the same college matriculation as Salisbury. If anything this years Seniors Class is probably the best- Yale, (2) Cornell, Brown, Pennsylvania, Colorado College, Wesleyan, (3) John Hopkins, Vanderbilt, NYU, Trinity College and thats only the early decisions. All of this is thanks to the wonderful Salisbury faculty. They are probably one in a million.

My son had a great PG experience at Salisbury. He took demanding courses with involved, caring faculty and did extremely well on his AP exams. Can't say enough good things about the coaches. He's at Cornell and thriving.

FINALLY this thread is back on track! I just want to read the answers to the OP's question. The thread wasn't about a comparison of Salisbury to other schools, it was about Salisbury!

So, ZenKarma3 and laxbro, how is the new boathouse coming along?

they are making a lot of progress and from what I have heard from the crew coach its huge, almost the size of an ivy league boathouse. they say it should be done before crew season starts.

i went to a hotchkiss vs. salisbury football game earlier this year and was talking to some salisbury guys. they said they liked their school- friendly environment, good academics, etc., but they also said they were bored out of their minds (lack of girls maybe?).lol.

There's a group on Facebook titled "Salisbury guys are hotter than Avon guys"

I kind of agree...nuf said.
:P

our school is breaking ground on a new athletic center next year. the reason why it is so late, compared to other schools, is because Salisbury chose to spend its money on new academic buildings first in early 2000.

My overall experience here has been wonderful; once you find your "niche," you really can concentrate and learn as much as you can at other schools. I think the school is getting better every year; the acceptance rate has been going down, and the academic quality of the students accepted is going up.

Also they are fixing up the Main Building and they are building new dorms right next to Ward.

i know salisbury as a football guy. the all boys thing is not for me although i see merits in not having to worry about dealing with girls.
