I dont really understand it. I can attend Fu Foundation SOE later?

yes.

i’m doing it. i went to clark for three years, majored in math, and now i go to columbia. i’m doing computer engineering.

Can you answer a few more questions?

What sorts of majors do people have while at Clark?

What GPA do you have to maintain to transfer to Fu?

Do you complete your major at Clark in 3 years? Or complete it in 4, while at Fu and get the Clark degree? And then complete the two at Columbia and get the Columbia degree?

Are you considered a transfer student at Columbia? What did you do for housing?

Thanks!

You can major in whatever you want while you are at clark. Common majors are math, physics, chemistry, and computer science. What you have to do though, is make sure you take all the prereqs to apply to columbia. The list of prereqs depends on what you want to major in at columbia. You need to have above a 3.0 gpa in the prereq courses and an overall gpa above 3.0 in order to be guaranteed admission. However, i heard that due to the size of this years 3-2 class, the largest ever, they might be raising the bar.

I met one kid in the 3-2 program at columbia who studied economics at georgetown and is now studying electrical engineering. Another one of my friends in the 3-2 said there was someone from his school who majored in studio art, and is now doing applied physics.

You complete your major in 3 years at clark. You still graduate with your class, so although I’ve finished everything at clark, i haven’t gotten my degree yet. I will get it this year, and then next year I will get a degree from columbia.

You enter columbia as a junior. I guess you’re considered a transfer, but you’re still treated like a somewhat regular student. A few things are different between 3-2, transfer, and regular students.

One thing is that transfer and regular students are guaranteed housing for all 4 years. My 3-2 class is the first class which they only guarantee housing for the first year. 3-2 students live in carlton arms, which is at 109th st. its one of the farthest dorms from campus, but its really nice. I don’t know what i’m going to do for housing next year.

Thanks so much for the added information. Very helpful! My daughter is interested in the 3/2 - she really liked the vibe at Clark, but, probably like most kids, loves the idea of the degree from Columbia. :)

@broken_symlink- I am interested in Columbia’s Combined Plan Program. How good is the financial aid package? Does Columbia meet 100% of financial need? Thanks in advance!

I don’t really know much about financial aid. I never needed it at clark and I only really applied for it when coming to columbia just to see if i would get anything, but I didn’t.

I know of one international student in the 3/2 who is here on a full ride.

For me personally, columbia ended up being about $20k more expensive per year than clark. Which is a pretty big deal, but i should still be able to graduate debt free.
