If interested in good combination of academics and social/athletic life -Davidson, Holy Cross and Colgate. Those 3 schools have Div1 sports and strong alumni networks while most other selective LAC'S are Div3 sports.

If it wasn't for its complete and utter lack of "diversity" I might have said Smith College. As it is, probably Pomona...Middlebury...Bowdoin...Colby...Swarthmore...Earlham...Oberlein...

...that is to say, there are too many angels on the head of the thumb-press end of this pin.

Earlham Colby and Oberlin?

Hmmm

Colby, Earlham, and Oberlin without mentioning Wesleyan or Vassar?

As I said...too many angels...

i always thought that amherst, williams, swarthmore, and pomona were all considered the top of the liberal arts colleges...

though of course colleges such as middlebury, carleton, and wellesley are all excellent institutions as well.

I nominate Wesleyan and Tufts. They're the closest to Boston and New York City. They have the least trouble recruiting and keeping faculty, and have more of an "urban preppy" feel to them than any of the others (except perhaps, Trinity or Barnard.)

colby is underrat4ed in USNEWS

let's go with the Little Three: Williams, Amherst, and Wesleyan

naa wesleyan is a great school, but i dont think it is risin any more

footballyus--is your keyboard missing keys?

Tufts?

Is that even considered a LAC?

No, Tufts is considered a national university, although in reality Tufts is more LAC-like than most universities in the mold of Dartmouth or Brown.

colby UNDERrated?!!!!

its ranked 20 in USNEWS and i think its a really good school

naa wesleyan is a great school, but i dont think it is risin any more<

I'm not sure I get your premise. Risin [sic] from what?

After Amherst and Williams, there are 15 LAC's that are pretty close. Also schools like Davidson, Colgate, Holy Cross, and Bucknell give an added benefit of strong school spirit with Div1 sports. Holy Cross and Colgate are the most played rivals of the Ivies in athletic competition. Also HC is close to Boston while many LAC's are rural.

I think Amherst = Swarthmore = Williams.

i think bowdoin
