I am an international student and we dont have AP in our curriculum.
Should I take the AP Exam?
What advantages I’ll have if I do?
Isnt SAT enough?
Do good universities consider AP Scores?
Thanks!

Hello there. AP, or Advanced Placement, exams/classes are exams and classes that offer a higher level of challenge for the HS students in comparison to honors classes. They are, in my basic terms, “college level preparatory classes”.
They are quite similar to, but at a lower level (I think) to the IB program, which I know little about, unfortunately. You can certainly take them, if you want. If you have the IB curriculum, I would go with that instead.
The advantages? Well, you take the classes to strengthen your workload, challenge yourself, and to get credit in colleges that accept the AP curriculum (if you take the exam and receive and adequate score, which can vary from school to school).
Sure, the SAT’s are more important that AP classes/exam, but people take AP classes along with the exams to challenge themselves, get college credits, and all that jazz I described just now.
Plenty of universities accept the AP system. However, as I just said, different universities accept different scores. For example, MIT accepts only 5’s, I think. Some schools are happy enough with a 3, some want a 4. It really varies on the school.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
Thank you very much! @NotYetEngineer
The AP is also equivalent to the IB and the A level examinations. Do not take the AP if you already follow either of the previous ones.
