what is the best college applicant?

hi, i was just wondering what the best college applicant is. is it that wicked smart kid who has nothing but grades and like top in the class? is it that kid with pretty good grades, but not tops, but plays sports, and does extraculiar and is a leader, but at the same time has a life? or it is somthing else? thanks.

It’s the African American Olympic medalist-Intel winner-valedictorian-class president from Alaska with a 2400 SAT.

You’re basically asking what does a perfect student look like. Just take each category and make it the highest. How about the guy born in India that started his own business and made billions, has his own sports franchises, cured cancer, has a 2400 SAT, 36 ACT, 800 on each subject test, knows 10 languages, was mayor and governor of some part of the world, high school quarterback and 100% completion percentage with 50TDs and 0 INTs, holds world record for 100M, plays for Barcelona and the Indian national soccer team that he lead to a world cup championship, and also averages 50 ppg in the NBA(and he’s still applying to colleges).

Really though just anyone with leadership in sports and school, high scores, high class rank, someone who has done something indepdently(ie own invention or started own business or created robots). I mean there are way too many things to consider, there is no perfect applicant. Bill Gates is the perfect applicant perhaps?

It may sound simplistic or corny, but just be the best you–don’t do all that other stuff just to get into college if it’s something you don’t like because your heart won’t be in it and it’s no guarantee anyway. Figure out a few things you do like and then go for it! And try to fit some fun in, too. Colleges aren’t necessarily looking for well rounded kids, but rather well rounded classes made up of all kinds of students, some of whom are well-lopsided! Meanwhile, get the best grades you can because all that other stuff doesn’t mean as much as the basics–good grades and good scores.
