What is the best Duke living space for a freshman?

There are a good 14 living spaces for Duke incoming freshmen on East Campus, just wondering which one is considered the “best”? Also, can we join SLG coming into our freshman year? Are FOCUS programs recommended?

depends some are close to the bus stop, some have AC, some are comfortable but far away ext…

East Campus . . .
(and, no, SLUs are upper class residences)

Thanks @TopTier , but which dorm on East Campus is considered the “best” now?

I’ve heard that Wilson is considered the “best;” not that it matters much since we can’t choose our residence halls. Also, I believe all East Campus dorms will have air conditioning this year. (Big plus!)

I’ve heard Bell Tower is amazing–“Hotel Bell” they say

If you guys go on the Facebook group, I have consistently seen Wilson and Bell Tower rated among the best. I am not sure, though.

Wilson is good because it is right next to Marketplace, and last year was residence to the basketball players. It is however on the main quad, meaning the building is pretty old. Bell tower is the newest dorm and has really nice rooms, but it is further away from Marketplace. I’d say Gilbert-Addoms is also a good dorm because it was recently renovated, and AC was just added to all the rooms this past year.

Wilson or Bell. Wilson is the only dorm with suite style (and basketball players) and has the best location. Bell is newest and has more study spaces. I might be biased, as I lived in Wilson, though. All dorms will have AC this fall.
