Princeton's newest edition is pretty good. I got it from the library. I haven't tried any others so I can't give you any comparisons with other books. Try it out!

I used Princeton Review's book as well. It covers the material very well and probably in more depth than you strictly need for the test. I found it very good for self-studying. The downside is there are only two practice tests.

I had only been taught kinematics in school, so I actually used Sparknotes' book to teach myself everything else, including waves, lenses, rotational motion, etc, etc. I really liked the way the book presented the info, and plus I ended up getting a 730, which I was very happy with. Plus, if you don't want to spend any money, it's even free online (although I liked having the actual book). And there are three practice tests!

I'm with dally here. I did the same thing--only kinematics in school, and the other stuff self-study with sparknotes. It explains everything well, has short tests throughout to test your knowledge, and occasionally makes witty comments about standardized testing. Highly recommended.

All I can tell you is that Princeton Review is terrible. Stay away from it if you don't already have an extremely solid foundation in physics.

yeah i think princeton review is really bad, too.

it wastes a lot of time covering things that you dont need on the test or are rarely seen on the test.

I got Kaplan's book for Christmas (weird gift) and I have to say that compared to Sparknotes, its much to easy. So even though I have not yet taken the test, I would advise you to stay away from this book!

That was a benefit for me personally. I found the actual physics test to be a breeze because I knew the material in depth.

Well, I used Princeton Review and we had only covered kinematics in my physics class. I had no problems understanding the material in the book, and it was generally at an easier level than what we did in class. I got an 800, for the record.

Your mileage may vary.

I used Kaplan and Barrons and I thought they prepared me pretty well. The score i got on the real thing (790) was actually higher than the scores i got on the practice tests in the books
