@UCalifornias
If there is any UC that cares about SAT scores, it is UCSB. Parchment’s scatterplots suggest that UCSB’s admission method is an anomaly among the UCs because the other UCs seem to ignore your SAT scores. So if you really want to get into UCSB, aim for a 2250+ SAT score.
However, if you want to get accepted by other UCs or other colleges, do not retake the SAT. A higher SAT score would only make the disparity between your GPA and SAT score larger.

talk about the grandma’s illness, use it, almost as a pity story, but still to show its bad effect upon you.

I had a 4.04 UC GPA but less than 4 for my normal GPA. Got a 2240 on my SAT.

UCSB and UCI accepted me and offered places in their honors programs (UCSC did too). This suggests to me that GPA isn’t everything for them.

Maybe UCSC and SB, but the other schools are a long shot.

@cult, I’m not a community college transfer, though.

I went to the UC statewide path page. I’m in the top 9 percent of the state. What UCs would I be guaranteed admission at? Is UCSB one of them?

Usually, that would be Merced you’d get garunteed, I’m afraid.

With strong essays, though, I think SB is definitely a possibility for you.

(I’m not a transfer either btw).

Yeah, I read your threads. Did you end up getting into UCLA? If not, it’d be surprising, since you got into SB’s Honors Program.

What are your thoughts on SB, by the way? I’m friends with people there and I see their snapchats 24/7. It seems like there is a great night life there! What are your thoughts on it? It seems like an amazing place!

Nope. LA was the only UC I applied to which denied me.

From the tours I’ve had, SB seems wonderful. I’ve spoken several times with some of the professors, and they were all really friendly. The atmosphere seems laid back enough to be comfortable, and the campus is absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to start classes this fall.

OP claims to be fluent in Hebrew. A 470 on the SAT subject test in Hebrew will fulfill the UC/CSU admission requirement for language other than English, if there is any question about the ASL courses.

American Sign Language is approved. I wouldn’t mind taking the subject test for Hebrew, I guess.
How would the UCs view a 500-550 on the subject test? Would it be better to just not take it?

Also, I was born with a rare case of clipped nerve endings (can’t feel pain in my limbs). Should I write it? Lol. It’s not necessarily a bad thing; if anything, it’s pretty cool.

bump for my SAT Subject Question!
