What is the blue book and the red book?

<p>The blue book and the red book were mentioned a lot of times and I am still not sure what they are. I am assuming that the blue book is The Official SAT Study guide: For the New SAT by College Board and that the red book is the 10 Real SATs (also by College Board).
I need to start studying for the SAT but I don't own either book. So do you guys recommend me getting both those books or the blue book or the red book? Thanks.</p>

<p>And they’re definitely important if you’re studying for the SAT/ACT.</p>

<p>Thank you. Should I study for both the SAT and the ACT? It seems like it would take much longer if I did study for both. Aside from the blue book and red book what other books do you recommend? (I absolutely hate Barrons so please don’t recommend that)</p>

<p>I think you should take practice tests for both, see how you do, and then come to a conclusion based on this:

  1. how well you did on the SAT vs how well you did on the ACT
  2. which you actually personally like better
  3. Which you think you can improve more on.</p>

<p>I personally think the ACT is better because it’s easier to prepare for then the SAT, but it depends on the person. Lots of people think the ACT time limits are ridiculous, so they like the SAT better.</p>

<p>And as for books; I actually use Barron’s, so maybe I’m not a good person to get advice on as far as which books are best. </p>

<p>But I’ve been told Princeton Review is great for both tests. </p>

<p>I also use sparknotes for ACT prep. There’s workbooks that they have for math/science and reading/english, which are pretty good. They go over every concept you need to know. :)</p>

<p>Personally, I would choose the ACT if many colleges allowed you to skip the essay portion in the ACT. I’ll take practice tests for both like you said but I’m probably going to end up buying both books anyway :P.</p>

<p>Lol I bought both books as well even though I’m 99.9% sure I won’t even bother taking the SAT.</p>

<p>And you’re not a fan of the essay on the ACT?</p>
