<p>Many colleges use the Common Application for most of the application. It includes places for you to enter information about your activities, any awards, and test scores. It also includes a place for you to answer an essay prompt with a response of up to 650 words.</p>
<p>You still need to have your transcript, standardized test score reports, and letters of recommendation sent to them. And a number of colleges have a supplement with additional questions.</p>

<p>Only around 500 colleges use CommonApp. In addition, each school may still have separated requirement listed in the supplemental section. The main part of the CommonApp only includes your profile, scores, awards, activities and an essay. It does make applying to multiple colleges easier by avoiding some redundant steps.</p>
