I was verbally attacked by a girl on my floor today for putting a tiny amount gel in my hair because it's apparently "very 1990's." She stopped me in my tracks and brushed my hair for me and made it look "cool," and then said that if I ruined what she did she'd cry and be really sad. In my opinion, she made me look dumb. I thought "what the hell" and didn't bother putting it back to my way. But then I got 3 seperate compliments on how it looks better this way.

Then I was talking to my roommate about it and he says that girls only notice guys with long hair because it shows that they take care of their hair and looks more masculine. But his friend who was sitting in the room spoke up and said that guys who have shorter hair look cleaner and more mature.

So honestly, what is "Cool?" And what do the girls prefer?

if you have straight hair you may be able to get away with the whole justin bieber thing, which a lot of girls like, but thats personally not my thing. It really depends on the shape of your face. if you got a lot of compliments in that new way, I would go with that

You should have Snooki-punched her. Or “ruined” it and then lapped her tears up.

And you can’t honestly say “all girls prefer X or Y haircut.” Probably the most general thing is that they prefer clean, well-maintained hair… not a matted mess. Long hair (like, metal band long) is probably generally less accepted but there are still women that like it. As long as you don’t look like a caveman you’ll be fine; do you really want to date a woman who is so petty as to decide whether you’re datable or not based on whether you have a crew cut or spiked hair?

I second the wax/pomade comment. I’m willing to bet all she did was rough out the shinny/hard effect of gel and made it look like you used a wax/pomade. Am I right?

I personally don’t like guys with super long hair … but it really depends, some guys just sport it well and it goes with their personality, I guess? It’s somewhat hard to explain :/

I like guys with a ‘smart look’ … not necessarily a military cut, but nice and not overdue for a haircut. I also like guys who have fobby hair. It’s (usually) so pretty!

All I can say is LOL to your hair getting fixed by some random girl and getting complimented on her work. I can’t give advice because I don’t know what your face looks like.

Last time I went to get my hair cut the lady woudn’t cut it unless she washed it first cause she said there was too much product in it…so I had to get my hair washed in those bowl things lol that was embarrassing.

lol well i just do it every morning when I get out of the shower…and I was at the mall later in the day and decided to get a hair cut…they usually just wet it and cut it but this lady was serious about her hair cuts i guess.

2 1/2 Razor Guard (basically a buzz) is the way to go, same length all the way around. Girls always wanna feel your head, and it looks nice. And you can’t do anything with it, so no random girls will sabotage your hair anymore.

I personally couldn’t care less though, since I wear a baseball cap 95% of the time. But if I didn’t, I’d never use gel. I didn’t know people actually still used that.
