What are the key differences between the two
Criminal justice is seen as a “vocational” major, that mostly prepares students to become Law Enforcement Officers.
Crimonology is a “serious academic” subject that generally leads to Law School. (Law Schools don’t like Criminal justice as a major because it’s not very rigorous.)
I’d also recommend you look at some online course catalogues to get a sense of what classes are involved with each major.
There is no significant difference - name of programs tend to come from a historical context of these programs (some emerged from sociology). Crim is the “theoretical study” of the etiology of crime whereas CH focuses on the system itself. ALL programs will include courses on both. Don’t get too caught up in a Crim vs. cj comparison - very 70s/80s discussion. Programs have moved well beyond.
