WHAT IS THE HARDEST MAJOR TO GET INTO AT UIUC?
Is it engineering or business? just submit my app today anyway so i just wanna find out! Thanks!

Bioengineering is the hardest major.
The other engineering majors and business are about the same difficulty in terms of admissions, both are the two departments with the highest SAT average at UIUC.

As noted hardest major to get into is bioengineering for which stats needed are extremely high and admission rate is very low. However, engineering is not otherwise that hard to get into if you in fact have stats in its middle 50% range, meaning class rank of at least top 9% or 10% and ACT score of at least 30, because the overall admission rate for engineering is actually higher than other UIUC colleges, usually in 70% to 75% range.

The hardest college to get into (to which all apply without designating a major) is the business college whose admission rate is in the 40% range and many with high stats well within or even above the middle 50% range are rejected because it does a full file review and considers essays in particular, and ECs to some extent, very important.

Man, regretting my choice, I just applied to business to Illinois!
If i get rejected from business, will i still be accepted into Illinois or i am definitely out?

I know some people on CC can declare their alternate choices, but why cant I?

Large number of students who apply to business end up being admitted to DGS (as an undecided) and some to LAS (usually to enonomics). You don’t put an alternate if applying business; you will just be automatically considered for DGS or LAS.

Ok, that explains why business in Illinois is selective
Got it. Thanks!

How do they compare each other? Would it be easy to transfer from Kelly to UI’s, or what about the other way? Any input would be welcome. Thanks.

Here are examples you can find on the web.

However, UCIC accounting is #2 in the country. Depending on what specific program you are interested in, the answer may be different.
