Hi,
We are trying to evaluate some of the college options.
College confidential is very helpful in giving the data about the In-state and out of state fees.
But my question is , What is the source of fee mentioned in collegeconfidential ? Is the data correct? How frequent this data gets updated ?
Thanks
While I’m sure some people look up the latest data, and others try to be accurate based on their/their child’s costs, you should always go to each school’s web site to get information on costs/fees/pricing to be sure it’s accurate.
That’s the only way to be sure you get accurate, updated pricing.

In addition, in order to know what you personally would have to pay* you need to run the Net Price Calculator.
- most colleges have a sticker price but in reality offer discounts.
Search each college and university website for “cost of attendance”. That will get you to information about projected costs including tuition, fees, housing, meals, books, materials, etc. Different places will include different items so you have to be careful when you compare the totals. The costs that are posted might be for the current academic year or include projected costs for future years.
You also need to be sure that the costs you are looking at are correct for your situation. Public universtiies usually have different costs for students from that state and students who are from other places. Sometimes there are different costs for different majors or different years of study. Graduate studies have different costs than undergraduate costs.
Every college and university website has a Net Price Calculator that will help you see what your family’s cost might be after financial aid. However those usually are not accurate for international students, or for families with complicated financial situations.
