I’m a senior in a charter school and I’ve already been accepted into the college of my choice. At the start of the year, I only wanted to take easy classes and wanted AP psych but my guidance counselor told me that I have to take a dual-enrolled course, so I chose AP lit. I didn’t know how hard Lit was and I strongly dislike my teacher and her methods of preparing us. My school pays for the exam for us but I really would like to avoid taking the AP Lit exam as I have heavy testing anxiety and tried to apply for an IEP but that takes too long, I’m kind of scared of my teacher, and I know I will not do well (poems were never my strong point). Will my teacher find out? Will I fail the class, as it counts as a final? I’m okay with taking a bad grade, I have a high GPA… I just don’t want to embarrass myself or get into too much trouble
Yes. Although since you’re graduating, not a big deal, usually.
Probably, but I don’t have a copy of your class grading rubrics.
The grade on the AP exam does not matter. However, your grade in the class does. If you get a D or F in the class, you risk getting your college acceptance rescinded. Just tae the exam.
skieurope I’ve taken multiple AP/honor classes my past three years and have never gotten lower than a B in all classes, ever. The college I’ve gotten accepted into is a community college, does my entrance into it truly depend on one class…?
As I said, I do not now how your school calculates grades. In my experience, if you do not take the final (and you said the AP exam counts as a final) then you fall the course. If your school is telling you that you can get a C- or higher without taking the AP exam, then don’t take the AP exam if you don’t want to. I’m going solely on the info you provided.
skieurope I see, thank you for your quick answers
