For those students already at FSU - If you have selected a major, what is it and have you been satisfied with the program?

For incoming freshman - What is your intended major?

My s hopes to major in finance/real estate

My s hopes to major in finance/real estate

I was in advertising, graduating this spring

It's definitely not for me in retrospect, but if you're interested in marketing/advertising/PR then it's an incredible program with great professors and connections to different agencies.

double major in sociology / economics

how do you find the economics program? any teacher recommendations for microeconomics? my son will have ap macro credit, hopefully

Joseph Calhoun seems to be very popular for micro and macro economics. He teaches both ECO2023 and ECO2013.

My daughter is planning to major in Creative Writing and minor in Business Management. She's also considering continuing to her Master's degree at FSU and then going to an Ivy for a potential Ph.D.

atmospheric science/meteorology

D: exercise science/prephysical therapy. Her goal is am(MPT or) DPT. It appears that by the time she has her undergrad degree, there will be few Masters programs left, with most morphing into a DPT.

meteorology - if i go to fsu... it's a long way from here (Sou. IN)

FSU has one of the best Met schools in the US.

Have you seen this: FSU Meteorology Home Page - Florida State University Meteorology Department

Yes I have... I know it is a great school for meteorology. This is weighing hard on my decision as to whether or not I will attend. Again, it's hard deciding whether or not to move 600+mi away.

If you have not visited FSU/Tallahassee, I encourage you to make the trip. Visiting a campus makes things more clear when considering a school (winter break is right around the corner, maybe you could take a road trip).
Do you have another school that you are also considering seriously? If so, putting down on paper the pros and cons of it and FSU and might help to weigh out which is the better fit for you.

thanks for the sugg's. I have visited FSU and really liked it. I will actually be visiting again within the next two weeks. Another school close to home is starting the program but I like the idea of going to a school with a hard core meteorology program.

like i said earlier, 80 degrees there today, it was 40 here! :)

currently exploratory- future social science major with a minor in urban and regional planning.

Glad to hear that you had a positive experience when visiting FSU and that you will have an opportunity to visit again. Maybe after your 2nd visit it will be obvious to you whether to enroll at FSU or stay closer to home. Regardless of the college you attend I encourage you to get involved on campus, you'll find students who have similar interests and will have a better chance at making lasting friendships that way. At college your friends do become your family away from home and that makes for a great experience!
