I'm just wondering what are some of other people's favorite Liberal Arts Colleges, and why?

Mine are Swarthmore, Amherst, Pomona, Bowdoin, Vassar, Wesleyan and Reed.

I'm just wondering what are some of other people's favorite Liberal Arts Colleges, and why?

Mine are Swarthmore, Amherst, Pomona, Bowdoin, Vassar, Wesleyan and Reed.

That list of schools has schools strong and weak in different subjects, so it is unlikely that a given student will find the optimal academic match at all of them.

Oberlin, Swarthmore, Carleton, Reed, Middlebury

Vassar, Smith, Grinnell, Reed, Macalester

Swarthmore, Williams, Bowdoin, Middlebury.

Washington & Lee, Colby, Bates, Williams, Bowdoin, Dartmouth (which really is an LAC), Colgate.

Apart from my own school, Reed, some LACs that really impressed me when I was applying to college were: Swarthmore, Vassar, Barnard, Sewanee, Mount Holyoke, Trinity University.

I don’t know that I’d call it a “favorite,” but one LAC that I’m impressed with and that I think should be more well-known than it is is Occidental College.

Williams, Bowdoin, Colgate, Colby, Hamilton, Bates

The LAC’s that really impressed me were Kenyon, St. Olaf and Furman.

My own Grinnell is my favorite, obviously. Middlebury is a close second.

Bowdoin
College of the Atlantic
Davidson*
Haverford
Reed
Swarthmore

Honorable mentions - Kenyon, Lewis & Clark, Rhodes

*Seriously, this school is awesome but gets no love/respect on CC.

My DD’s top three - Amherst , Bowdoin and Pomona. After visiting Pomona was her top choice.

Holy Cross, Davidson.

Pomona College

Wesleyan University

Kenyon College

Illinois Wesleyan University

Trinity University Texas

Reed, Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore (best outcomes in terms of % of grads getting professional degrees or PhD’s.

Oberlin! ;)

Colgate, Bucknell.

Rhodes!

Respect also for Amherst, Bernard, Berea, Coe, Holy Cross, Goucher, Hampton-Sidney, Hope, Juniata, Luther, Muhlenberg, St. Michael’s, St. Olaf, Vassar, Washington & Jefferson, Washington, Williams, and Wheaton IL.

Well, I’m gonna have to say Holy Cross because I go there XD
