144 in 6th grade---which totally doesn't reflect my SAT scores. sigh

237 -- yeah, beat that

Really, I didn't take internet tests, which are unreliable, because of 1) small quantity of questions 2) questions, reflecting only one or several types of reasoning (e.g. visual, mathematics etc.) Although there are exclusions, it is relatively seldom.
My test consisited of 100 questions (of different types) and 30 minutes to take them, it is created by respected psychologists, and I don't think they consider this test unreliable.

Somebody here said, that it is should used by the school for placement in young age, because IQ then doesn't change. Wrong! IQ increases up to 28 years for a normal human, and up to old age in genuise. Maximal growth is in around 12 and around 18 years old. We can change it. IQ reflects your reasoning abilities precisely, so don't discount it.

And don't rely on thses stupid internet tests.

What exactly do IQ tests ask? Is it just math/verbal like the sat or what? Never took one b4.

It doesn't test your knowledge like SAT (although there is some reasoning), but your mental ability: verbal logics, math logics, visual logic etc.

i took the one on iqtest.com and got a 162

I was thoroughly tested at the end of 7th grade to get into this dumb gifted program that we had in school. The test lasted like 2-3 hours, and hell, it felt like a SAT sitting. I got a 149, haven't checked since.

i took one at iqtest.com just now and got a 161. i'm pretty sure it's safe to say online IQ tests are inaccurate.

i got an 800!!!! they must be accurate!!!

if iq tests are reliable, then my iq has jumped from 140 to 170 in a few months

124 from an online test. I'd say that that's a fairly accurate result for me. I'm not particularly smart.

BradDemmons,

140 to 170 is not impossible, internet tests often one or only several types of reasoning. First time, you took test with questions hard for your brain, second - easy, so it's possible. My results varies from 120 to 150.

stardragon, do you have a particular online test that you recommend?

To tell the truth, I don't recommend any paticular online test, they try to measure your IQ rapidly and easily, and yet it is going not well. So, if you really want to know what's your brain made of, consult psychologist.

I took MENSA's online test and scored in like the top 2%, which they claimed to be good enough to qualify for membership...

Pfft. I don't need their stupid smart-people group.
