What kind of colleges should I be aiming for?

I have a 2150, but that's because I never practised or even looked at the essay section and completely ran out of time. I could get that up to 2250 very easily, perhaps even higher if I do some practise papers in CR and math (only did one or two before). My ECs are pretty weak. My GCSEs (I'm from the UK) are good: 8 A*s 2 As. My A-levels are not so good: BBBD because I totally went off the rails. I'm on a second gap year now to sort my life out (had some personal issues that's why I took the first gap year). I like the idea of American universities because of the range of stuff you can study.

What sort of colleges should I look at?

Thank you guys.

If cost is not an issue, go for US colleges

But if you are in the UK you are very lucky because your college education is incredibly inexpensive compared to the costs in the US. without financial aid, most private colleges here run you $50K a year. Only the most selective top universities offer financial aid to international applicants, but an international is not going to get finaid at princeton with a 2150…

But if cost is not an issue than go to the USNWR rankings and I think the lower 10 of the top 25 are possible to get into with a 2150. Even if you do get a 2250, it is going to be tough to get into HYPSM as an international, they have the lowest admit rates.

Okay thank you. I didn’t realise 2150 was that bad, oh well, I’m sure most people underachieve on their first try especially if they don’t prepare. My family have no money do perhaps I’ll stick with British unis. sad face

2150 ISN’T that bad, really, but if you want financial aid, you’re probably not going to get it merit-based at any of the super elite colleges… Have you considered state schools? UT Austin/Univ of Alabama…etc? They will probably be much more generous aid-wise
