I am an Applied and Computational Mathematics major. I just switched from Chemical Engineering to Applied Math last week (I'm a sophomore.), so the classes that I took last year weren't really related to Mathematics except for Calculus, or some engineering classes. Thus, I wonder what kind of internships I could look for. Banking? Finance? I live in New York, if that helps.

Actuarial, statistical, data mining, programming, i.e mostly computational jobs.

Forget Banking or Finance. Those are reserved for Finance majors and people with connections. With your current major, your chances are limited to computational jobs.

DropOut, I guess I should tell my friends who graduated with physics, math, political science, communications, management, Spanish, mechanical engineering and chemical engineering that they were hired at JPM, GS, BoA and a set of small investment banks by accident and should expect to be fired soon.
