What kind of recommendation do colleges like?

I have a choice between two teachers for my second recommendation:

A: Hard ass teacher, very strict but seems to appreciate my hard work. He will say the good, he will say the bad about me, but he will be very specific in every aspect. He says he includes bits of our writing in the recommendation for the schools to judge if it's up to par. I got a B but a nice appraisal.

B: Bit of a bimbo. She liked me, she's incredibly nice, but she was also incredibly easy but not the smartest. She probably won't write anything bad about me, and will say I'm an amazing person with a great work ethic, but won't provide nearly as many intricacies. She doesn't write like a genius like teacher A does. I received an A- for the class and did not receive an appraisal.

Who should I go with?

Personally, I’d go with Teacher A. He seems more qualified to write your recommendation. Also, this recommendation might also help the colleges to understand why you got a B in that class. They’ll know that you worked hard, and didn’t just get a B because you did the bare minimum. What classes do the respective teachers teach, anyway?

A teaches English, B teaches Chemistry.

Thanks for your input, I’m thinking of going with A at the moment but would like to hear some more opinions.

I think I would choose A. If he gives specifics and tells the bad as well as the good, that makes his rec seem more credible/honest

Thanks for your input. Anyone else? I’m probably going to make my decision by Friday.

Hands down, it’s A.
My daughter chose her hard ass, unjustifiably tough, mega-critical English teacher over another who was a close friend, but had no savvy about reccs.
