What kind of school does someone like me usually end up at?

LOL…LadyDianeski…I appreciate your support. I do have my detractors as well…but frankly speaking my time on CC is about done. D1 is graduating in this year’s Fordham class…and D2 is somewhere else in college. My goal has always been to be as helpful as I can…it was out of a sense of extreme outrage at what happened to D1 in our process in fall/December 06 that prompted my decision to get on here and voice my opinions. We got burned badly by a school down south for no apparent reason…but in hindsight,we now see it was the Hand of God…as that school now nauseates us with their noblesse oblige, sorority antics, heavy drinking and really not the kind of people we are at all. So our own delusions (though not from stats as we were clearly in the middle of the pack there), lead us to Fordham…and its been a grand 4 years…not without bumps in the road and some “growing up”. I recommend the school to everyone who qualifies and would be a candidate for success there.

TO everyone else, I say, there are plenty of other schools out there, many who would love to have you and be good for you. Too many to mention here. Its a matter of doing your homework and being realistic and then just learning to relax a bit. There isnt just one answer, there are many.

I also suggest to misternegative that its okay to go away to college…in fact it can be a very rewarding experience. I like places like Richmond and Furman and Presbyterian College and Wofford and Elon and so forth. Stellar schools. But also Loyola Maryland, Loyola New Orleans (a GEM of a school actually) and St. Joes. I could go on and on. Fordham wants people who want Fordham and people who will work hard, contribute to the community and make Fordham a better place after your four years here are finished. They don’t want people who will be bitter about not going to Georgetown or Notre Dame or Harvard. They don’t want people who will become sad statistics due to partying and poor study habits. Its a very special place and we love it with all our hearts…warts and all.

I hate to see kids who we really want and need at Fordham go elsewhere…regardless of the reasoning. But its a fact of life. All I know is that if you pick Fordham, come ready to work and ready to contribute and you will be fine and have a lot of fun doing it.
God Bless you all and Merry Christmas.

ps. now the reason for my moniker: Ghostbuster. It has a lot to do with the haunted buildings at Fordham and I will leave it at that.

Wait wait wait wait wait.

You can’t just go around recommending haunted schools to people! :P

Speaking of haunted schools, my friend made it into Emory and Georgetown. He chose Emory because he was afraid of the Exorcist and demons haunting georgetown. Kind of irrational, lol.

Parts of the movie Exorcist were filmed at Fordham. The Jesuit Priest in the movie is a real priest and a Jesuit and he is still alive and walks around Fordham’s campus often.

But there are other ghost stories which abound at Fordham and many of them are surreal and believable.

Did I perform a Ghostbusting service? My lips are sealed!
