What kind of school is MIT and what would I expect?

I want to go to MIT and I just want to know what it would be like there. Also, what kind of applicant are they looking for?.....Thanks1

MIT is really hard but also really fun. People here keep themselves busy. The culture and classes focus heavily on math, engineering, and the sciences, but there is also a strong humanities program. Many people work in labs on campus. There are many student groups. In all things, you can find whatever you are looking for.

The people at MIT are wonderful and interesting, and they range from more or less normal to the type of nerdy you might expect from MIT. Each dorm has its own culture. I live in the nerdier parts. My friends from high school think it’s a hippie commune and my former boss has compared it to a psych ward. You can learn more about student life and the various dorm cultures by reading the admissions blogs: [MIT Admissions](http://mitadmissions.org)

They’re looking for this type of applicant: [The Match Between You And MIT](What we look for | MIT Admissions)

Your question is really general. What are you looking for in a school?

Well, only advice i can give is be yourself. MIT is one of those schools that looks more for how a student fits in the environment. Theyre looking for a range of personalities to put under the same roof
