At what point in your high school career did you decide that you would be going to CC in hopes of transferring? What were your initial feelings? Sad? Optimistic? What kind of a student were you in high school?

My GPA was a 2.7 in H.S., I knew I was going to CC. It really did not bother me that I was going to CC because all my friends were to.

My GPA in high school was not bad, 3.8 (weighted), admitted to one of top UC but was rescinded for mistakes in reporting the academic grades, therefore no way but to CC as private colleges are not affordable.

Very sad at first but is OK now in CC, at least saving money, and studying in CC is not so bad as some describe, paying effort one could still loop back to good UC, anyway, good luck to everybody.

my GPA in highschool was 3.0(unweighted).... I was 3.7-8student but i slacked off during senior year... my last spring semester I got 1.4 GPA.... 3 D, 1F, 1C...
I barely graduated from highschool

2.5UW; I never did the busywork, but got A's and B's on all the tests. Funny how High School is structured.

i was ranked 6th in my grade....
from the rear...
went to school once a week probably... slept in classes. hid under the stairs.
bowling 5 times a week. never went home. life was GREAT
but bottom line.
i didn't give a crap about classes.

hey but we all have to grow up some day
sad to grow old. but what can i say? we all do
LOL ! !

I don't remember my overall gpa but heres how it broke down:

Freshman: 3.7
Sophomore: 2.8
Junior: 3.5
Senior: 3.4

I took 3 or 4 AP classes, but to be honest I put ZERO effort in my hs work. Pretty much all my grades were up to chance, even when I did well. The classes I did well in were usually the ones I had to try out for...like journalism, my "we the people" class (gov't). I was hoping for UC Irvine back then so I could go to school with my friends but due to SEVERAL application errors and god awful personal statements I was rejected everywhere (sans UCR and UCM).

For me the decision came down to CC's or UCR/UCM. I figured I'd save some $$ and go CC. It was kind of taboo to talk about community college senior year, but once I started at De Anza I had a complete academic turnaround. Now I'll have either a 3.75 or a 3.83 (depending on finals) at the end of this quarter.

umm i applied with a 3.65 (junior year) MY SENIOR YEAR I HAD A 4.15 and a 4.00 wieghted taking me up to the 3.85 region but senoir year did not count... I got accpeted to UCD but did not want to go there so I opted for CC

So have most of you transferred by now or are you still in CC? If so, how are you liking it?

Lets see: I wake up at 8, get ready, and get to school by 845. I put my head down and walk to class. After class is over i put my head down and go bakc to my car and go back my house. The teachers are really good for the most part, much better than what i expected. Some seem to jsut want their paycheck and some dont care about the subject and therefore show no interest. Socially speaking, CC sux but try to get yourself involved. Academically for the most part it is pretty good.

i didn't try in hs and my gpa was around 2.8. around my junior/senior year i decided that i was just going to go to sjsu, and sjsu pretty much accepted everyone (i don't know anyone who was rejected), so i didn't try even more. I just did whatever it took to get assignments done, and that wasn't much.

Near the time of applications/acceptances, where all of my friends were talking about schools, was when i decided that i would go a cc. cc started, and once again, i didn't really take it very seriously, ending up with about a 2.3 after about 1.5 years at cc. at this point, i just planning to go to sjsu or something again. i don't know what got into but i decided to stay at cc an extra year to raise my gpa so I could have a chance at the UC's. So I got my gpa to about 3.0ish after already completely a lotttt of units so it was more difficult than it looks.

anyways i'm here now at ucsd, and i can't help but wonder, "what if i had tried harder in cc," i would be at my top choice ucla. but on a serious note, ucsd is top school, and i should be glad that i got the chance to attend.

I don't know. i know i can do better if i work harder its, just a matter of motivation.

GPA: 0.96

Never really went. Don't regret it much.

high school gpa was 1.44

LOL hw I've never met anyone who had a lower h.s. gpa until now

If I knew i was going to go to community college anyways, i would have shot for a straight C's.

i didn't even care enough to consider what my gpa was... i win

Well, I'm currently a senior, but I do have a bad case of senioritis right now. My grades in high school have been okay, not stellar. I had a 3.6 my freshman year, a 3.0 sophomore years, a 3.1 junior year, and probably around a 3.0 this year. I always found high school to be monotonous and boring so I haven't ever really risen to my full potential. And besides I have three D's because I suck at math.

I concur.

I'm getting like a C or D right now in trig since I've always been bad at math. However, I finished my sophomore year with an A in both semesters because I had a pretty easy teacher. Math sucks.

I don't know my h.s. GPA. I got the full range of grades, a's b's c's d's f's...
My high school was terrible. I took a few AP courses those were pretty good but regularly classes seemed to be middle school level. I went to middle school in Nor Cal and high school in So Cal. There is a huge difference is the level of education.

I didn't like my first couple years of high school. Basically, in middle school I was able to get A's and B's with just about zero effort. I tried bringing that into high school, and there was so much busy work that I got a 2.x my first semester.

Luckily I got on the right track, though, with the highest math and english courses. I kept on passing and ended up in AP Calc and AP English.

Actually, as the years went on and I got into more advanced courses I found that there was less and less busy work. Senior year I was able to do all of my homework, every single assignment and term project except one over lunch and between periods and got my first 4.0.

--Joe

4.2 UC gpa

got in everywhere else but the ones i was going for: ucla/berkeley. sigh.
