what kinds of HEALTHY foods for my dorm refrigerator?? meals,snacks,etc...

I agree with the above two. Those were my first thoughts.

A) I’ve never been to Whole Foods, because I live across the street from a Publix and within a mile of both an Ingles and a Bi-Lo. (All grocery stores if you aren’t familiar). The nearest Whole Foods is in another county and probably an hour’s drive away.

B) Whole Foods is expensive. College students are generally broke.

C) The suggestions given by people here aren’t all bad. People have suggested things like fruits and snack-able veggies like carrots and celery. Those things are really not bad for you. Sure, they may not be organic, but they are natural un-processed foods that are rather affordable options.

You really don’t have to spend an arm and a leg just to eat healthy.

You don’t have to go to whole foods. The whole proliferation of whole foods markets and the “organic” movement is entirely misleading. Whole Foods is, for the most part, just another commercialized grocery store. People go there and automatically feel that organic means better and organic means local. In addition, people look at the free range chicken stuff, but don’t realize what the actually means. Whole Foods has perverted the organic foods movement. For additional reading, Michael Pollan speaks much about the entire “whole foods movement”.

I get premade smoothies which can be a great snack. I eat less than most people so that’s a meal for me. They’re a touch expensive but very healthy!
