I can't decide between French and German, so I want to hear your opinions on them!

French is cute and “romantic”. German is hilarious.

I take Spanish personally, but I’d go with French.

Spanish, French, and German are the languages offered at my school.

Out of the three, Spanish is probably the most practical due to its widespread usage here in the States. It’s arguably the easiest language to learn - because the grammar and syntax are so similar to English! I chose Spanish for that reason.

But personally, I think German and especially French are much nicer-sounding than Spanish. Spanish is more practical than the two, but the other two are a lot cooler in my opinion. Also, I agree that German is hilarious (no offense German speakers). I have a couple of native German friends and I can’t help but laugh every time I hear them speak to each other, lol.

But either way, all three of those languages are really easy to learn. Spanish and French are both Romance languages, which all share grammar fairly similar to English and share a lot of English vocabulary. Since English and German are both Germanic languages, German is really easy to learn as well.

I just wanted to say that German is really cool, but French and English are the official languages of the UN, if you’re interested in international studies.

I took Italian. Kind of wish I took Spanish or German instead, but oh well. Italian’s not too bad in its own right.

I love Spanish, but I wish I had taken French as well. And then maybe German.

I took Spanish, and I’m starting Latin next year. German, French, and Italian are also offered. I also took Spanish due to practicality, but I think French is one of the best sounding languages. Italian is good if you know other people that are Italian, or plan on living in Italy at any time. German is good for business.

spanish, latin, and russian

i’d take french, german seems cool and easy but is rather impractical

Also, I forgot to say that I study Spanish, French, and Arabic.

I just went with French since I already knew it. It’s a pretty cool language.

I am taking French.

French is cooler.

Japanese is cooler than both.

I took Spanish. I think German would’ve been interesting because there’s a lot of parallels to English, and also it just sounds awesome when spoken.

In college I intend to take Arabic so that I can hopefully study abroad in Lebanon.

french is definitely more “useful” as it’s spoken in many more countries than german.

at my school at least, the stereotypical french student is a girly girl who dots their i’s with hearts or is gay hipster; and the stereotypical german student is racist and rude. however, most of these students tend to drop out (of school, or the class), but junior year.

i’m in my third year of german and i enjoy it.

I’m currently taking Spanish because it’s more practical IMO.

French sounds more romantic and pretty!

Whenever I listen to someone speak German, I always feel like they’re yelling at me. Haha.

I’m taking Spanish too, but French seems alot chicer and classier, haha.

take french.

Just curious, is there anyone here thats a polyglot–for example, speaks 10+ languages lol (just curious)

I take french and latin, but I’d love to take german. If possible, you should try to take both, but if you could only take one, I’d pick french. It’s more useful, but I doubt you’d master a language after four or less years of taking the class.
