What literary work are you currently reading in your English/Literature class?

And is it good?

We're reading Oliver Twist. I like it so far, it's a nice change of pace from Shakespeare we've been doing. The plot is gripping and every chapter has sort of a cliffhanger, making you want to read more to find out what happens next.

Hamlet -_-

Freakonomics. And yes.

About to star reading Night. Never read it; hear it’s good.

We’re about to start Turn of the Screw…I’m not thrilled. We’re in the middle of a unit on short stories.

Madame Bovary. I hear it’s pretty bad.

By the way, Night is really good, if my opinion counts for anything - I read it in freshman year world history. On a somewhat unrelated note, I think my history teacher just really loved literature.

The Great Gatsby

We just finished Death of a Salesman, now we are reading Catcher in the Rye… Did not love DOAS, I have heard mixed reviews about the other so we will see…

@halcyonheather I am so jealous, that is one of my favorite books!

We’re reading The Grapes of Wrath. Ugh. Sorry if there’s any Steinbeck lovers out there, but I only like The Red Pony out of his books.
We’re gonna start Death of a Salesman next week.

Hamlet :stuck_out_tongue: 10 char

A Clockwork Orange

We just finished Hamlet, and now we’re doing our own “book clubs” and my book is Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro.

Also reading The Grapes of Wrath. So far, it’s ok, but not amazing.

Hamlet :frowning: I despise Shakespeare.

Catch-22. It was pretty good.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Sparknotes makes it seem like its a really good book haha.

Just finished Cry, the Beloved Country by Alan Paton. Loved it!

The Glass Menagerie is up next.

I am seriously loving AP this year. Just finished Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout and The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. Probably my two favorite books I’ve ever read, and they were back to back and for school.

Great Expectations, just finished individual and haven’t start with in class discussion. Lord of the Flies, not done either.

Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
