What looks more impressive on an app?

<p>1) A not very prestigious research internship program at a prestigious university. </p>

<p>2) A research internship in a laboratory of a fairly well-known professor at a prestigious university</p>

<p>The internship I was in last year was established that same year, so it probably isn't very well-known to many adcoms compared to RSI/SSP/TASP/etc. However, the internship was at a top-tier research university and I was lucky enough to be placed in a lab of a professor/research physician who is pretty famous (has published papers in Nature and other well known scientific journals, and has been on the news more than once). </p>

<p>Would I be better off just saying that I have done research with the professor and not mention the program at all? </p>

<p>Mention the program. Plenty of kids do informal research through connections with professors; to be selected for a program to work with this professor is more official.</p>
