I personally have never been to the school. What is everyones thoughts on the campus? I remember hearing from a friend of mine that they don't have a coed dorms at all. Anyone know if thats true? What's the town of Hamden like and is there anything to do in the area/on campus?

I applied as my safety school because it had what I wanted, plus it seemed like a beauitful campus (i've heard it looks like a country club). They just so happened to also send me quite a bit of mail.

I went to the open house and the campus was really nice .. its my safety as well- my first choice is Fordham. I heard the town of Hamden is really boring but that New Haven is fairly exciting. It has been my first acceptance so I hope these acceptances keep on pourin' in. . lol

ok, they sent me alot of mail also. I was accepted and recieved a $10,000 Dean's scholarship. I did not receive notice of that until about a week ago, and was accepted, I think in november. My parents were sure that I would not get any merit award because they publicize that you have to be in the top 10% of your class, and have an sat score of 1150-1200. My sat score was 1340. My parents were all set to call them and say," No wonder why you don't get the top applicants, but held off.- thank god. Anyway I have a real problem with rank, because some schools rank weight and some do not. At my school with a class of 700 rank is unweighted, as is gpa. So if you are a student who takes all easy courses your rank could be higher than someone who takes honors and ap's. In other words how can you compare rank? I was pleased that in the end Q realized that.

does anyone think that they'd accept someone with a ranking of top 25.1 percent? - (150/597) for scholarships? I noticed that they mention top 10 and 15 percent and at least 1150 sat (I have a 1210). thanks

I'm sure you'll definitely be considered. Quinnipiac really isn't that competitive of a school... I have a 3.9 gpa, ranked 10/121 with 1280 SAT scores and I received one of the top scholarship amounts possible. How is your GPA and extracurriculars?

thanks for your response. . i have a 3.57 weighted gpa (89.3) and my EC's are decent although nothing spectacular- French Honors society, chorus, lifeguarding job-2 years, elementary school tutoring 1 yr

yeah... Ive heard back from Ithaca (and on a good note) so yeah Im not going.... The only way that I can see myself going is if they offer me $$... but they haven't... since my cumulative rank sucks.. because i go to a very competitive hs... (meaning that I'm at like the top 40% or so... i actually don't know exactly.... w/ a 1240 SAT... so yeah Im not going... but good luck to everyone who is/ thinking of going. QU is a great place for some people... just not me.

I didn't apply to Quin but my brother goes there. One really great thing about Quin is that they have 5 year combined bachelor's and master's programs. My brother is going to graduate next year with a bachelor's degree in history and then the next year with a master's in secondary eduaction. I know that they have other combined bachelor's/master's programs. Also, its just a realyl nice and fun place. It is a tiny school but if that's what you're looking for great. Also, my brother totally found his niche there so he's happy and I know that all of his friends are too.

Don't rag on Quin too much, its certainly not an ivy but its not a bad school. Anyways, any school you go to is what you make of it and as we all know in this day and age you graduate work is going to matter alot more than your undergrad so we should all find a school where we can work and play and just enjoy our college years. Good luck to everyone and I hope you seriously consider Quin!

You are so right about enjoying the undergrad years.

My daughters boyfriend was accepted to Quin and will go in the fall. He loves it and with a 1400 SAT and high gpa he was offered the full scholarship(12,000$). hE COULD HAVE GONE TO OTHER SCHOOLS BUT CHOSE QUINNAPIAC .........that says something about how impressed he was with the school.

Their OPEN HOUSES are in october..........now my daughter wants to check it out too ( do you think it's because that is where he will be.....no, couldn't be right?)

From the reading I have done and listening to her boyfriends descriptions it sounds like a good school and one that is dedicated to helping students make career connections both during and after graduation.

I hope you are kidding. You will definitely get in. Possibly with a full ride even. QU really wants diversity and I know two people who live next door to me who have full rides because one is black and the other is Columbian. I'll probably see you next year then! You can always email me with any questions or concerns that you have. I also happen to be a tour guide so I'm pretty knowledgable.
