Post your stories about how you knew and when you realized that UConn was the school for you!

I realized UConn was for me when I first visited the campus. When I stepped onto the campus, and taking its size into its account, I didn’t feel overwhelmed. It was lively, students were proud to recognize UConn as their stomping grounds. I remember our tour guide told us that it was so lively not because there was a big sports game going on, but because it was just always like that.

When I visited my friends they were so happy about their school, and there seems like there’s always something to do. While I try to avoid the party scene, the amount of clubs that I think I want to join is the overwhelming part. It’s an hour from home, it works economically for my family and the engaging academics. It just really seems as an ideal university: school spirit, awesome academics, a mixture of multiple scenes and diversity.

my sister went there and i always knew that they were happy there and she always had a fun time there. she always seemed to have something to do and in general the students seemed happy. it is very comfortable there. i didn’t want to go too far from home. the campus is 2 hours away from home and i think that it’s the perfect distance, not too close not too far. i also like how i won’t have to pay $50,000 to get a good education equal to that people will get at those schools. it is also nice to see that there is a lot of school spirit and pride and that people seem proud to go to uconn.

im super excited about attending uconn. its not only a beautiful campus but it has a small town feel to it that I enjoy very much. Im going because I was accepted to uconn’s nursing program. I love the reactions I get when I mention my acceptance to uconn’s nursing program, they usual gape and ask " you got in on your first try?" Its also very convenient for me because the campus is only about an hour away from home. Due to my financial “disadvantages” financial aid makes going to uconn a lot cheaper. I am

Is the campus really that beautiful? Also does it snow a lot there?

This year, it snowed A LOT. Storrs got a record amount of snow for January. We had huge snow banks that are almost gone. It just snowed Thurs/Fri.
Class still goes on though. Only a few delays and snow days.
Snow makes the campus pretty. :)

That’s good to know :)

Is it easy to get to Boston from the campus?

@coldplay: you may want to check the megabus or peterpan bus service websites. I know they have regular (3 times/day) service from Storrs to NYC, with very reasonable rates. Would assume they also go to other nearby cities such as Boston.
