hey guys,

for those of you sure that skidmore is your top choice...what made you fall in love with the school?

for me, it was a few things: during the tour as we walked through the cafeteria, the students who were eating all screamed out to us "go here! its awesome!" and things like that. at all the other tours ive been on, i didnt sense this feeling of fun and goofing around as much as i did at skidmore.

furthermore, it seemed very laid back and not a pressure-cooker like some other, more prestigious institutions.

its known for being a liberal environment, something that was a top priority for me (similiar to vassar in that respect)

and most importantly, the shrimp scampi at wheatfields restaurant was absolutely incredible.

why will no one answer!!??

When I walked around the campus, I had an overwhelming feeling of acceptance and belonging. I attended an open house where I heard a lecture from a psych professor, in the past I had heard a similar lecture from an econ professor... both times I got the sincere feeling that these profs cared about their students, their work and they wanted to be at Skidmore teaching. All of the students seemed genuinely happy to be here, not mourning over their rejection from HPY or Amherst, LOL. The college offered everything and more that I have been interested in while still providing avenues for me to test out and play with my artistic side. In the end, I just "felt right' in every conceivable way. Many people have told me that I should have aimed higher, shot for the bigger name etc. etc. but I know that I will be happy here, and if I'm not, well that's what transfer apps are for!
