What made you pick Wake?

What made you guys apply to Wake and if you already went there why did you choose it?

My DD applied and is committed because of the excellent teaching (#5 in the country), small, beautiful campus that isn’t too cold, the athletics, travel abroad programs, big Greek life, and the #27 ranking in the country. She didn’t so great on the ACTS (30) so she likes the fact that her heavy GPA and extra curricular activities are mostly looked at. She is studying Biology with hopes of going to Med school. Work forest as it is lovingly referred to will prepare her for the hard work. If you have any other questions feel free to DM me.

I’m only a sophomore in high school but I want to go to Wake mostly because it’s accounting program and it’s band looks fun.

I visited on a college tour when I was a sophomore and immediately noticed a difference between Wake and the other schools I visited: every single person I talked to was entirely focused on school, or work; it actually mattered to them. Being from Florida and it’s massive state schools dominating the landscape, it really made me realize that some people in college actually care about how (likely) their parents money is being spent and what they’re getting from it.

Also, the business school seems to really teach to help in the business world, and set you up for real life. As a hopeful CompSci-Business double major, not only was I allowed to go into classrooms in the business school, one of the Computer Acience professors let me sit in on a class, and I learned a LOT. I’m already fairly accmomplished with programming, and that one class showed me at least three very basic components of Java I didn’t understand, in 45 minutes.

Hope that helps!
