what major is right for me?

I am ranked 4th in my class, 31 on the ACT, and this is what i like to do:
play video games
work on cars and r/c planes
and i like driving around and having money.
what else do you need to know?

Look at engineering

you sound like an engineer... what are your strongest or favorite subjects at school? if they are math and/or science you should most definitely look into engineering...

I enjoy learning about physics but don't actual enjoy doing the work. The thing about engineering is, i only enjoy building stuff from my mind and not having some huge list of requirements. If i was to be an engineer id want to design and build stuff with my own hands. what kind of job would involve that? it seems that building stuff would be a better hobby for me but i don't know.

Look at mechanical engineering. This seems to be the destination of those who like cars.

what else can mech e's do?

This is the description in the Occupational Outlook Handbook of the Bureau of Labor Statistics:

"Mechanical engineers research, develop, design, manufacture, and test tools, engines, machines, and other mechanical devices. They work on power-producing machines such as electric generators, internal combustion engines, and steam and gas turbines, as well as power-using machines such as refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment, machine tools, material handling systems, elevators and escalators, industrial production equipment, and robots used in manufacturing. Mechanical engineers also design tools that other engineers need for their work. Mechanical engineering is one of the broadest engineering disciplines. Mechanical engineers may work in production operations in manufacturing or agriculture, maintenance, or technical sales; many are administrators or managers."

You might ask this in the engineering major forum. I don't have any direct experience with the field myself. My son is an EE major. It is just in his descriptions of the different types of engineers he says that the mechies (or maybe it's MechE's) all seem to be into cars!

You also could google on "mechanical engineering major." I did this and found lots of links. For instance, this seems to be a very thorough description:
<a href="http://www.worldwidelearn.com/online-education-guide/engineering/mechanical-engineering-major.htm%5B/url%5D">http://www.worldwidelearn.com/online-education-guide/engineering/mechanical-engineering-major.htm</a></p>

I’m having a similar problem choosing a major. I love to read (A LOT) and use the computer and mess around with pictures on computer programs. I was thinking biochemistry because my dad wanted me too but now I find that I don’t really enjoy learning about such small things. I did yearbook in high school and loved it and I liked history. I love being around people and I’m very organized.

electrical engineering sounds like a close one

Both of you could go into computer science. If you like video games then submajors in game design where you use computer graphics and animation would apply. alliecat23, you could also major in computer science but then take classes in digital media where you use photoshop and web page design.
