Writing =D

do you think it would be ok to write about a bunch of different things? or would just focusing one or two be better.

^^ Emily…I would focus on ONE passion that you have, WHY it’s your passion, what it teaches you or what you can teach others…how it came to be your passion…in order to write a good essay not more than whatever the word requirement is, it is better imo to write about one thing that makes you tick.

ok well i wrote about four kind of small things that seem random but they are meaningful to me… and it’s under the word limit. i don’t know… i kind of like the way i wrote it but do you think it’s just completely missing the point? or would they think it’s original?

emilyanwo, the key thing that you posted was “i kind of like the way i wrote it.” Too often applicants spend too much time trying to figure out what they’re “supposed” to write instead of writing what shows themselves best. There is no specific point–if you like what you wrote, then that’s what you should go with.

ok thanks a bunch!

I agree with seashore. If more than one thing makes you tick, don’t worry about it. There was a similar question the year my son applied. His answer included a lot of stuff, but it really described him to a t. If he’d dropped that piece of essay on the ground, any one who knew him would have known it was him.

Seashore and mathmom:

You both have valid points and I stand corrected. I guess it’s up to the individual person how they want to write this essay. My S wrote about one passion he had that made him tick, but it sounds like it can be answered in many different ways! Good luck to Emily, however you choose to answer the question!
