What might encourage an out of state student to choose Berkeley CS L&S over CMU SCS?

Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

Perhaps if the student got a Regents’ scholarship at Berkeley to make the price significantly lower? Or if the CMU admission is to a division other than SCS (switching to SCS is very competitive).

Otherwise, needing to earn a 3.3 GPA to declare L&S CS is riskier than going to CMU with direct admission to SCS.
