Hello,

I am currently enrolled in Milwaukee School of Engineering and I am a Mechanical Engineer. Due to the fact that I am a transfer student, I have to stay an extra year and was thinking about including a minor. My goal is to go into vehicle research and I was wondering what minor would benefit me better Physics or Chemistry?

Any feedback will be appreciated,
Thank you

Either more electives within engineering, computer science, or whichever subject(s) you enjoy the most.

Think about what kind of work you wish to do once you graduate. If you can combine physics or chemistry with mechanical engineering, then it will help. Otherwise, just take more engineering classes. When I was hiring college applicants, I always was looking at just the courses that were relevant to the job and more was always better.

As you look for the best list of extra courses, I don’t think you need to be overly concerned whether it can be combined into a specific minor. Then discuss your ideas with you advisor and campus placement center - they may have further suggestions.

I would go and look at the jobs that you plan on applying for upon graduation. I am a mechanical engineering major, but most of the jobs I am interested in require knowledge of python/C++, etc; so I am minoring in computer science.
