Victor Victoria, Electric Horseman

Many of the films already mentioned.

Also: Tootsie,High Society and Jesus Christ Superstar.

Although it’s already been mentioned I watch White Christmas every year. I think I know every line of that film and I love it.

Love Actually,
A River Runs Through It
Mean Girls
Stand and Deliver
Elf

Pride and Prejudice
You’ve Got Mail

Jaws

Close Encounters of the Third Kind

The Talented Mr. Ripley

My Fair Lady, Tootsie, When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail. Any Jane Austen adaptation,( with the exception of the Laurence Olivier Pride and Prejudice,) Support Your Local Sheriff, A New Leaf, any Christmas Carol but especially the George C. Scott version, Babe, Airplane. There are many movies that I could watch certain scenes over and over again. The courtroom scenes in My Cousin Vinny are priceless.

129 previous responses and no one mentioned Armeggedon? That movie has everything: drama, comedy, thrill, sci-fi, special effects, tears. OK, so it isn’t To Kill a Mockingbird, but if you haven’t seen it, you gotta check it out.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Titanic

Mary Poppins

West Side Story

Love, Actually

The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie

And for some reason that undoubtedly reflects a deep flaw in my personality because I happen to think that it’s a terrible movie, Notting Hill

Marian, I have a “bad movie” too. If View From the Top is on I will watch it. It is a horrible movie but I can’t help myself.

DH is compelled to watch Shawshank Redemption if is is on, but at least that is a good movie.

I will add Mary Poppins, for sure.
“129 previous responses and no one mentioned Armeggedon?”
- It is a great movie that has everything including the best actors. However, it is NOT my type of a movie, it is definitely my H’s type of movie and, yes, one of his favorite. I just like certain type of movies… I might start watching this one with my H., but then I usually fall asleep if I am personally not very interested. However, very boring for others movies like “The Proposal” will keep my eyes wide open, go figure, I do not know how it works. One thing I noticed though, if there is any kind of chase of high activity, I just fall asleep right away, the best sleeping pill for me…

The first Star Wars
Raiders of the Lost Ark
Wizard of Oz

Favorites I have memorized: Pee Wee’s Big Adventure, Napoleon Dynamite, Sense and Sensibility (w/Emma Thompson), Home Alone, Chariots of Fire, Casablanca, It’s a Wonderful Life, Babe

Others I’ve seen many times: O Brother, Where Art Thou? the original Star Wars, To Kill a Mockingbird, Spirited Away, Meet the Parents, Mon Oncle (and most of Jacques Tati), La Gloire De Mon Pere/Le Chateau De Ma Mere (My Father’s Glory/My Mother’s Castle), Lord of the Rings (the first one), Not One Less (Chinese), A Streetcar Named Desire, Babette’s Feast (Danish)
Also love–just about any old musical. Own most of them: Sound of Music, Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Oklahoma, My Fair Lady, Oliver, Singing in the Rain, On the Town, are a few of my favorites.
Also like Bringing Up Baby (but it annoys me. . .) The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner, Billy Liar, The Island (Russian). Sure I’m forgetting something. . .

My cousin Vinny
The fugitive
Star Wars IV and V
Die Hard 1 and 2
Jesus Christ Superstar (1973)
Shawshank Redemption
Hunt for Red October
Bourne series.
Les Miserables
Lord of the Rings
Four Weddings and a Funeral

Forgot to add Fiddler on the Roof. I find it very moving, with beautiful music.

The Terminal

Back to The Future trilogy

Holes

Disney’s Fantasia (both the original and the new version)

The original Jesus Christ Superstar (I see that I’m not the only fan of this movie)

And there are a few more… Mr B loves Air Force One and The Abyss.

That movie is banned in my house for no fault of its own. At the time it came out my sister had a terrible boyfriend, and after a couple of incidents including an arrest for petty theft, she was forbidden to see him. Supposedly the Aerosmith song featured in the movie was “their song” and she would break into histrionics when it played in the movie. Although she has since moved on and grown up a lot, nobody can shake the association with such stupidity so we all hate it.

Back to the topic of the thread, given the season I should also add to my list:
A Christmas Story
Elf
The Ref - “Grandma’s chewing through her gag again!”

not perhaps politcally correct but I loved “the ringer” too.
